August already? We wonder how many of us are feeling the same way. Since beginning of summer, the town of Steamboat Springs has been busy with visitors from all over the world. Steamboat Springs and its residents may have experienced one of the busiest summers! We are glad to see many of our friends return and visited the store again this year. Partners at Sew Steamboat are still looking for at least ‘one’ team member to be a part of our Sew Steamboat team. If you are interested, please stop by the store or give us an email. We hope that you will enjoy the rest of your summer!
Here is a reminder for August:
- Our new store hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm. We are CLOSED on Mondays.

My Favorite Knitting Pattern Books!
Since I became one of the partners at Sew Steamboat (October, 2013), I have been given the opportunity to explore many different crafts. As inquisitive as I am with a belief in the quote ‘Teach me how to fish...” , I have gained much knowledge in needle craft and fiber: from learning how to knit, quilt, spin, to designing my own patterns in various needlework, participating in the Routt County Fair, and just recently having and caring for my own fiber family (2 ewes, 3 lambs, 4 alpacas and 1 llama)! As you can see, it has been an amazing few years to be one of the partners at Sew Steamboat for me.
Today, I want to share with you the two books, which I really depend on in designing knitwear.
The Knit Stitch pattern handbook by Melissa Leapman and Up, Down, All-Around Stitch Dictionary by Wendy Bearnard. I believe these books are ‘a-must-have’, especially if you want create custom knitting designs of your own! If you are into a different needlecraft, I know that there are similar books/stitch dictionaries out there. Please let us know and we can assist you in finding the right resource. I truly hope your journey in the world of needlework is as enjoyable as mine! I wish you The Best!
Warm Wishes from your friends at Sew Steamboat,
Carol, Cho, Cindy, Donna, Lynn, Nancy, and Stephanie
