Partners Pick: Holiday Gift Guide

We Wish You a Very Happy Holiday!

Carol - Strip packs of fabric for quilting

Cho - Kits for kids and books. We have many different cute needle felting kits in the store! They are fun and easy to make 3D animals, which makes a great holiday gift for the kids. Our store also have a variety of pattern and how-to books for all types needle crafts. Be sure to check out one of my favorite book, Finishing School: A Master Class for Knitters by Deborah Newton

Cindy - Kits are a great gift to buy and receive! Our knitting kits include the yarn and the pattern - just add needles and away you go. We have Appalachian Baby (100% organic cotton) Kits (both knitting and crochet!), Colorado Headband Kits, Blue Sky Fibers hat and mitten kits (check out the Trio - you receive THREE hat patterns and yarn for one hat), Lux Adorna 100% Cashmere Kits that make cowls, hats or fingerless mitts, Wonderland Yarns Kits (Banded Hat Kit, Sushi Scarf Kit, Messenger Kit that includes patterns for two hats, hat/mitts, or scarf options! and the Compass Shawl Kit) and finally Island Yarn Shades to make a gradient cowl. Phew! See what I mean - we have KITS! Don't get me started on Minky fabric kits, Needle Felting kits, Counted Cross Stitch kits, Needlepoint kits, etc.

Donna - I Love Handles Wrist Ruler Bracelet is perfect because you always need to measure things when you are on the go.

Lynn - Local yarn bowls by Melissa Roulette make a great holiday gift and a souvenir.

Nancy - Lykke Interchangeable Needle Set. I love the Lykke IC sets for a number of reasons. I love the feel of the driftwood in my hands and I love the points on the tips- not too sharp but sharp enough for most of the yarns that I knit.  I also love the fact that these sets are very affordable. Two sets are available:Standard set has 5” tips in 12 sizes US 4 - 17 with 5 cords.

Short tips set has 3.5” tips in 9 sizes US 3 - 10.5 with 4 cords.

Stephanie - Rowan felted tweed and Cashmere tweed yarn is subtle and luxurious to work with, which makes a perfect holiday gift for love ones.

Rowan Cashmere Tweed

Rowan-Cashmere-Tweed-Sew Steamboat

When Sew Steamboat started carrying Rowan Cashmere Tweed, I fell in love with the yarn! It was just a matter of finding the right project for this subtle and luxurious fiber: 80% Virgin Wool and 20% Cashmere in DK weight.

I chose to knit a sweater called 'Blish', a free pattern by Berroco. This sweater has a very simple cable in the front and has 10 inches ease in the design. Yes, it is very comfy and super soft!

The Rowan Cashmere Tweed comes in a 25g ball, approximately 96 yards or 88 meter in length. It is perfect for small projects such as a pair of mittens or gloves, a cowl or a scarf, or perhaps a hat. Made with extra fine merino and cashmere, this yarn would also make not only very comfortable but beautiful baby projects. If you are going to use it for a big project such as mine, be sure to order it by the bag and take advantage of the 10% discount on full bags.

I hope that you will pick this yarn for your next project and please do share your ideas with me. Happy Crafting!
