Dear Customer:

STITCHED - A Fiber Art GalleryFebruary is a big month at Sew Steamboat! First, we officially opened STITCHED, our new fiber arts gallery on February 1st! The partners formed STITCHED as a way to recognize fiber arts as a true artistic medium; promote local, regional and state fiber artists; and inspire our students and supporters to find their inner artist.  Starting February 2nd, STITCHED will be open during Sew Steamboat’s regular shop hours: Monday through Saturday from 10am until 6pm and Sunday from 12pm until 5pm. We invite you to come in and check it out!

Please note:  We will be closing Sunday, February 23 to participate in a Partner’s Retreat.

With the opening of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia and the 101st Winter Carnival celebrating Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) athletes and future Olympians, we’ve decided to showcase an Olympic theme throughout the month.   Check out our Olympic-themed window display and the wonderful pieces created by local fiber artists.  We’ve even designed the Steamboat Cheer Mitten Scarf, using local WZ-Felt Alpaca yarn, to celebrate all the Steamboat Olympians.  Purchase the pattern from Sew Steamboat on Ravelry or come on down to the shop and pick up a kit to make your own during the games!

February’s lecture and workshop brings back DMQG member and instructor Denice Knapp. Denice’s lecture on Thursday, February 20th is entitled “Quilts and Their Stories”, and it requires your participation, as well.  Bring a quilt that will tell a tale!  Maybe it is an old family quilt, or a quilt that you made for a special occasion, or simply a quilt that shows off a favorite technique that you like to use. This meeting will take place at 6:30pm at The Community Center.

Denice Knapp will teach “Scrap Happy – 2 Block Illusion” on Saturday, February 22nd, from 9am - 4pm (1 hour lunch).  If you have signed up, be sure to bring your own lunch.  The class supply list is available on the Guild’s website. This class will take place at the Anchor Way Church in Steamboat II.
