Happy New Year from Sew Steamboat

Dear Customer:

“It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me, and I'm feelin' good!”*

When I hear Nina Simone belt out this phrase, I feel the dreams of a thousand resolutions start to bubble up inside me. And this year, as a new partner in the store, most of my resolutions center on learning new crafts. I've been knitting for years now, but now I'm itching to try needle felting. Perhaps quilting will be my style! This could be the year I finally start to play with upcycling. (I have been doing some crazy searches on Pinterest.) It's like the candy box has been opened and I can't stop myself!

As I scoured our calendar, I realized that in the first couple of months of 2014, we have some great classes coming up. You could finally learn how to crochet that cool hood we've had in the store for months; knit your own skirt; or even begin your own sewing adventure! I'm so excited to start exploring!

What's your crafting resolution this year?

*Lyric from “Feeling Good”by Anthony Newley & Lesley Bricusse (noteably sung by Nina Simone)

January's Featured Classes:

Crocodile Stitch Crochet

January 4th & 11th, 2014 from 3pm-5pm

Crocheters!  Would you like to learn a new stitch?  The crocodile stitch is not only beautiful but it can turn your entire project into an art piece. The layered effect almost brings your project to life no matter what you're working up.  You can make many unique looking items with this stitch including wrist warmers, a shawl, hood, hats and more.  Since the hood in our window has received a lot of interest, we thought we'd teach the technique while creating this beautiful hood.
