Dear Friends:

It's finally October! Autumn colors were at peak until the last week of September but Steamboat has already received fresh snow at the higher elevations. For fiber lovers, cooler weather means picking up more projects. October is Socktober at Sew Steamboat and if you have been wanting to learn how to knit a pair of socks, now is the time! Stephanie is offering a basic sock class during this month in celebration of Socktober. In addition, we have a lot of beginner as well as more advanced classes coming up. For advanced knitters, join Cindy in learning how to make an Entrelac hat or Cho in making a hanging ornament while learning the double knitting technique. For beginners, Intro to Knitting and Beginning Crochet classes are offered every month. Remember that you will receive a 10% discount on materials with class registration. Lastly, be sure to join our partners for an October Mystery Knit-A-Long hosted by Michele at Knit Purl Hunter. The first clue will be available on our website on October 5th at 9am EST. Scroll down to see the event details under the 'upcoming event' section of this newsletter. We hope to see you very soon.

Happy Crafting!

Best Wishes:

Beyond the incredible natural properties of yak, Reywa Fibers 100% Tibetan Yak Down Yarns come with an extraordinary story of community and environmental transformation. The profits from the sale of the yarn is reinvested in educational sponsorship for children of impoverished families, and in grassland restoration.

Symmetry - Made in U.S.A!

Symmetry yarn- Sew Steamboat

Symmetry is a perfect balance of Alpaca and wool fiber in a sport weight. This incredibly soft yarn is 100% grown, manufactured and dyed in the US. It is made with baby alpaca and fine wool. The yarn is lofty and light and the color palette is scrumptious with lots of jewel tones to select for your next project. The colors we stock are so complementary and will well for any multi skein project.

I chose to knit the Allegro Mitts, a design by Julie Hart, who lives part time in the Yampa Valley. These mitts have a simple cable pattern, which add enough interest while being a very relaxing knit. I loved how the color, fit and overall design looks and feels on my hands.
These mitts will provide just the right amount of warmth for the upcoming chilly days this fall. The yarn is available in 6 colors??? And the mitts are in the shop for you to try on.

Happy Knitting!
