September Newsletter 2017

Sew Steamboat Newsletter Banner

Dear Friends:

Happy Labor Day!

Autumn starts again with the autumnal equinox on September 22. This means two things: days will be shorter than nights after the first day of equinox and we will be seeing the various beautiful shades of fall in Steamboat Springs. As the temperature begins to fall, fiber lovers may find a good excuse to stay in and work on their favorite projects. Beginning this month, Sew Steamboat will be offering a Beginning Crochet class twice a month. If you are up for a good challenge, there is an Entrelac Hat class offered by Cindy on September 23rd and 30th. You will be learning how to make one-of-a-kind hat, but be sure to register sooner than later because there is a pre-homework assignment and prerequisite. Contact us or stop by the store for more information. Labor Day sidewalk sales begins today through Monday, September 4th. Also, the Row by Row Experience ends on September 5th. Come and see us!

Happy Crafting!

Best Wishes:

Mystery Knit-A-Long

Oh!-Mystery-KALLast month I told you about the upcoming Building Blocks Knit Along (KAL) that starts September 12th. We'll meet the second Tuesday of each month from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. This month we are excited to announce yet another KAL! It's a mystery knit along that is sponsored by Skacel and Michelle the KnitPurlHunter. Every Thursday beginning October 5th, a portion of the pattern will be released. We know it's a cowl that takes 2 skeins of our deliciously soft and squishy Oh! yarn (100% Super Baby Alpaca) and 4 buttons (30 mm each in size.) The instructions call for a cable needle, so cables are involved as well. The needle is a 24" size 10 circular. Michelle will have a Ravelry Group for support, and several Sew Steamboat partners are taking part as well. Join us on Fridays from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. for Sit N Stitch if you have any questions or need guidance. At the end of the program, if you submit a photo online you'll have a chance to earn a prize through Skacel. It's a win-win-win! I've already picked out my Oh! color and am ready to go. Hope you can join us.

Road to China Light - The Banyan Cowl

Sew Steamboat - Road to China Light

The Road to China Light yarn is a luxurious fiber by the Fibre Co. This sport weight yarn has a perfect combination of 65% light fawn baby alpaca, 10% soft tones of camel, cashmere, as well as 15% of lustrous sheen of silk. Needless to say, it is one of my go-to favorite yarns for making that special garment! Inspired by the soft halo and yet subtle textures and shifting patterns, I have designed a one-skein Banyan cowl to truly display how special Road to China really is.

Banyan Cowl- Road to China Light

The cowl has a delicate lace pattern that is easy to follow and addicting to knit. It allows us to enjoy this extraordinary fiber and the gentle decadence of the Road to China. Although the Banyan cowl is a knitting pattern (free with yarn purchase at Sew Steamboat), I recommend this yarn for all your special projects. Come check out the sample cowl, experience the fiber, and I am sure it will be in your next projects. I know you will love it!
